OUR SEARCH %%CAPABILITY%%
London is home to vast green spaces, waterways, and urban areas that create complex environments when someone goes missing. Our volunteers support emergency services through live searches and preventative safety work. With specialist skills in land, water, and air, we’re trained to respond where and when it matters most. All our volunteers are people like you.

%%SEARCH TECHNICIAN%%:
YOUR FIRST STEP IN SAR
Search Technicians form the foundation of our operational response. Fully trained in missing person behaviour, navigation, radio use, and ground search techniques, they are the first on the ground during live incidents. Becoming a Search Technician is the gateway into search and rescue, with clear pathways into specialist roles.
Days of specialist training to become a search technician
is spent on each volunteer being trained as a search technician
SUPPORT OUR
TRAINEE SEARCH TECHNICIANS
Without your donations and support, we cannot train enough search technicians to be able to deploy teams to support the emergency services.
%%LAND SEARCH%% SPECIALISMS
Land Search is central to what we do, covering parks, woodlands, riverbanks, and urban spaces. All search technicians train in bank search and later have the option to specialise in dog handling, bike search, medic, or search management - developing expertise to meet the demands of varied environments and helping ensure the safety of every search.

DOG TEAM
Specialist search dogs and handlers work together to cover large areas efficiently and locate missing persons quickly.

BIKE TEAM
Bike Search Technicians use adapted cycles to reach remote areas fast and extend coverage during live searches.

MEDIC
Medics provide immediate first aid and casualty care during incidents, events, and public deployments.

TEAM LEADER
Team Leaders coordinate volunteers on the ground, ensuring searches are safe, structured, and effective.

RIVER BANK SEARCH
Trained personnel search safely along rivers and canals - areas often involved in high-risk incidents.

SEARCH MANAGEMENT
Qualified members help plan, brief, and manage live searches using behavioural models and mapping tools.

SPECIALIST TEAMS
Training our specialist teams requires investment in professional training, specialist equipment and bespoke kit to remain operation.
%%WATER%% SEARCH
Water Search teams operate in and around aquatic environments, supporting emergency services with incidents and preventative work near rivers, lakes, and canals. With trained Paddlecraft Technicians, Water First Responders, and Powerboat crews, we can deliver safe, effective response in challenging settings, to search wide areas quickly and thoroughly.

PADDLECRAFT TEAM
Paddlecraft Technicians use kayaks to access remote banks and support fast, quiet water-based searches.

WATER FIRST RESPONSE
These responders are trained to operate near water safely and assist with rescues and safety cover.

POWERBOAT TEAM
Qualified volunteers operate RYA-certified boats to cover large stretches of water quickly and safely.

"Every second counts in water search and rescue situations. With %%more funding%%, we can train additional Water First Responders, expand our paddlecraft rescue team, and build our powerboat capability - helping us respond faster to suicide prevention incidents across London"

%%DRONE%% SEARCH
Drone Search provides vital aerial support during live incidents and training. Operated by licensed drone pilots, our drones help scan large areas, identify key features or clues, and assess inaccessible terrain. This improves team coordination, safety, and response time - especially in complex or fast-moving search environments.

DRONE TEAM
Licensed pilots deploy drones to provide eyes in the sky during training and live operations.

DRONE SUPPORT TECHS
Trained team members assist with kit setup, spotting, flight safety, and data coordination on scene

“Every time we launch a drone, we’re giving someone a better chance of being found. The technology helps us search %%faster%% and reach places others can’t. But without funding, we risk losing those precious minutes - and that can be the difference between life and death.”

OUR VEHICLE %%FLEET%%
Our specialist fleet plays a vital role in getting our people and equipment to where they’re needed most. From our two Incident Control Units to specialist bike and operational support response vehicles, each one is kitted out to support search operations across London’s diverse environments - parks, riversides, streets and beyond. Ready day or night.

INCIDENT CONTROL UNIT
ICU-1 and ICU-2 are identical twines. Each mobile command centre supports real-time coordination on the ground, using advanced mapping, communications and tracking tools to run effective, large-scale searches anywhere across the capital.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
OSU-1 is a one-stop-shop for training kit and event equipment to specialist search gear like medical supplies, water search and rope access kit. This vehicle ensures our teams can respond quickly, safely and effectively around the clock.

BIKE SUPPORT
BSU-1 is home to our fleet of e-bikes and accoustic bikes. Fast, agile and ideal for parks and paths, our bike teams support rapid search coverage and assist in transporting kit across wide or inaccessible areas of partkland.
