Right now, London Search & Rescue is recruiting new members. The all-volunteer based group is recruiting members to help search for missing vulnerable people such as children, those who have dementia and those with depression or mental illness.

The team is based in and around the area of South London and covers the whole of London working in partnership with local Police forces to search for missing people in London Boroughs. More volunteers are needed to ensure the team can continue to provide a high level of assistance 24/7. Its members are volunteers and come from all walks of life from shop keepers to company directors and include serving Police Officers and retired servicemen and women.

The team is a charity and one of 36 Lowland Rescue teams in the country that provide specialist search and rescue services to the Police.

If a member of your family went missing, you’d want to know that everything possible was being done to find them. When a high-risk missing person is reported, it is vital that searchers are on the ground quickly, especially when bad weather makes the risk to the missing person even greater.

If you are looking for a truly unique and rewarding volunteering opportunity, have a love of the outdoors and want to help us save lives then we would love to hear from you. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary, and full training is given. You’ll learn new skills that you can use anywhere in life, make new friends and of course make a vital difference to the most vulnerable members of our communities.

Becoming a Search Technician with us can be the most rewarding experience of your life and allows you to reach out to somebody in need; ensuring that when a vulnerable person goes missing, there is always somebody ready to go and look for them.
